THE 15th Summer Beer Festival was another record breaker.

For the second consecutive year we were tremendously lucky with the weather, which finally broke the day after we finished.

Amongst the record figures were 137 different real ales, 432 curries, nearly 1,700 pints of continental beer (many of which ran out!) and 12,000 pints of real ale. Our order of 600 locally made pork pies proved to be hopelessly inadequate.

Arriva Trains Wales did their bit for us again, with many special stops at Wrenbury Station.

Unfortunately, as some of you are aware, I was taken ill at new year- see recent blog for more details. I need to take certain precautions to safeguard my future health, and as such I am not planning to hold a November festival this year

Music sessions
On the third Tuesday of every month, we open our doors to local folk musicians who come and entertain us from 9 pm onwards. Musicians and music lovers are equally welcome.

Wobbly Wheels
On many Monday or Tuesday nights, from late March to late September, cyclists gather to head off for a tour of local pubs, returning for chip butties to restore equilibrium at around 10.30 pm.

The pace is fairly sedate these days as many of us are not as young as we once were.  Newcomers are always made to feel welcome. Please contact the pub for more information.

Vintage Sports Car meetings
The first Thursday evening of each month sees people turning out in a fabulous selection of venerable machines, accompanied by a variety of other interesting vehicles of all ages. Vehicle turnout does depend on weather and time of year, but there are always a good group of enthusiasts.

Cricket
We have a team in the local knock out competition. The approach is light -hearted, but handy players are always welcome.

Fantasy Football
To really enjoy the Premier League season to the full you need a team in the Bhurtpore Superleague, courtesy Telegraph Fantasy Football. See right hand column for more info..
