The Bhurtpore is, first and foremost, a pub, and the life-blood of any pub should be good beer.

We have 11 guest real ales which change several times a week.

If you want to know what is on now, check out www.bhurtpore.com.

A broad range of styles are maintained, including a stout or porter, strong ales and bitters of various strengths. Most are sourced from micro-breweries with an accent on local brewers, though we also actively support some of the older independent brewers.

Alongside the British ales we have a wide selection of Continental and Craft beers. On draught we have Bitburger Pils (the best selling draught beer in  Germany. We also have Joseph Holt's Crystal lager, an International award winner.

Erdinger wheat beers are an established mainstay - the standard Weissbier and the Urweisse (easter to September only), a recreation of their original 1880's recipe - from Munich. In September we shift from Urweisse to  Oktoberfestbier. This special edition is limited in supply. When it is gone we leave the pump fallow till next spring. A recent addition is Revisionist Craft Lager - brewed in small batches by Marstons, this is brewer Simon Yates's take on a lager for the 21st century.

Shipyard American Pale Ale is the result of a colaboration between Shipyard of Portland, Maine and Marstons via Ringwood of Hampshire (a good story, but too long to tell here - possibly a future blog). At 4.5% it offers a quality alternative to the cask range with a full smack of hops.

From Belgium, The Bhurtpore offers Timmermans Strawberry beer and usually Lefevbre Belgian Kriek alongside two or three guest craft ales which may be a honey beer, a hoppy IPA or perhaps a Trappist ale.

We also have a bottled beer list which features around 150 of the finest beers in the world, mostly from Belgium, but with contributions from Britain, Ireland, the USA, the Czech Republic, Iceland, Japan, Austria, Holland and Germany.

If you are still struggling to find the right tipple, we also have real still ciders on tap and a list of 30 or so of the best bottled ciders money can buy - needless to say, Magners is not on this list (see 'old blogs').
